Historically, Jackson is significant as the birthplace of the Republican Party.  But this is far from the only thing that makes Jackson unique.

One of the city’s showpieces is The Cascades, a man-made waterfall which, on summer evenings, is illuminated by dazzling multi-color lights, which change in time with the show’s musical selections.  The beauty of The Cascades is further accentuated by accompanying fireworks displays in honor of Memorial Day, Independence Day, and Labor Day, delighting spectators just as it has for generations.

Summer in Jackson also means it’s time for the Hot Air Jubilee and the Jackson County Fair, which has drawn world-famous acts such as Bob Seger, The Beach Boys, Brooks & Dunn, Alan Jackson, and comedian Jeff Dunham as grandstand entertainment.  Throughout the year, residents can take advantage of the robust Jackson District Library system, the city’s two shopping malls, Allskate Fun Center, and EpIQ Escapes, a recently-opened business focused on escape room puzzle games. Diners can choose from dozens of restaurants, including The Parlor, known for its generous servings of ice cream desserts.  Art lovers and history buffs will find plenty to keep them busy, including the Ella Sharp Museum, Art 634, and the annual Civil War Muster. Outdoor activities can be enjoyed at the city’s many parks, including Nixon Park, which features a swimming pool and skate park, and Ella Sharp Park, which boasts an 18-hole miniature golf course.

Jackson isn’t just a great place for fun; it’s also a great place to call home.  With many neighborhoods to choose from, including Westbrook Townhomes, Oak Grove, Summit Glen Condominiums, and The Preserve at Magnolia Park, one is sure to be the perfect fit for you and your family for years to come.
